U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood has little good to say about two local headline grabbers, Kwame Kilpatrick and Matty Moroun.
Lahood tells The Detroit News he wouldn’t have signed off on providing millions of dollars in funding for the M-1 light rail project and other transit projects in Southeast Michigan had Kilpatrick been mayor.
Lahood, who is about to step down, also called Moroun a ”“schemer” for trying to stop the New International Trade Crossing.
LaHood says Mayor Dave Bing was key to federal involvement in major transportation projects in Metro Detroit, and he praised state lawmakers for approving a Regional Transit Authority for southeast Michigan.
